After Dem Rep. Raises Transgender Flag Outside Her Office, Marjorie Taylor Greene Returns Fire

Debate over H.R. 5, The Equality Act, turned angry on the House floor on Wednesday.

Democratic Rep. Marie Newman, who has a transgender daughter, became emotional while describing her to colleagues as the “strongest, bravest person I know.” Newman said, “My daughter has found her authentic self.”

This bill will likely pass the House. Its fate in the Senate is uncertain.

Opponents to H.R. 5 emphasize the bill’s effect on women’s sports. If this were to become law, transgender women (biological men) would be allowed to compete for valuable scholarships and athletic honors against biological women.

The very outspoken freshman congresswoman from Georgia, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican, spoke out against this bill on Wednesday.

“It has very serious consequences. It will put trans rights above women’s rights”, she said. “Biological women cannot compete against biological men.”

Greene’s daughter, a softball player, she explained to colleagues, would have to compete “against and alongside biological men.”

“They will be in her locker room, they will be in her showers, they will be in her bathroom, they will be in her hotel room when she travels with her team,” Greene warned. “This is wrong.”

Stories of young men who identify as women winning top prizes in athletic competitions have abounded over the last couple of years. I happen to believe it is wrong to allow these individuals, who are naturally stronger than biological women, to compete in women’s sports.

Anyway, follow the House debate, Newman, whose office is directly across the hall from Taylor Greene’s in the Longworth House office building, placed a trans flag outside her door.

She then posted a tweet that included a video of herself erecting the flag which said:  “Our neighbor, @RepMTG, tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is “disgusting, immoral, and evil…Thought we’d put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door.”

Not one to let a slight go by, Taylor Greene had a sign made which said, “There are TWO genders. MALE & FEMALE. Trust the science!”

She then tweeted a video of herself hanging the sign outside her office with the caption, “Our neighbour, @RepMarieNewman, wants to pass the so-called “Equality” Act to destroy women’s rights and religious freedoms…Thought we’d put up ours so she can look at it every time she opens her door.”

Good for her. Equality is great, but biological males competing with biological females in sports is the opposite of equality.

  1. My state’s legislature is working on a bill to protect women from this invasive nonsense. Other states are, too. If the federal government is going to do the harm, at least a few states will make it right.
This is not really about women. This is more to tear a divide into the social fabric of a nation and a culture, based on something the left despises: God.
If it isn’t that, why was God removed from the Democrat platform, several years back, in their Charlotte,NC national convention? Because Marxism is without God.

  2. Quite right.

  3. I am so “gender confused” by the Congresswoman’s statement…. is Newman’s daughter a boy who thinks he is a girl or a girl who thinks she is a boy….? I am (seriously) not sure what it means when someone has a ‘transgender daughter”. I am leaning slightly towards the correct answer being a boy thinking she is a girl…..
