CNN Viewership Has Tumbled Since Trump Left Office; Hardest Hit? Don Lemon and Brian Stelter

CNN has lost a whopping 67 percent of their viewers since former President Donald Trump left office – just as he once predicted.

CNN star anchors Don Lemon and Brian Stelter have been among the hardest hit.

You may recall that Lemon “rebranded” his show a couple of weeks ago to stir up a little excitement. He concluded his long time show by telling viewers, “It’s been really, really great. This is the last night that will be ‘CNN Tonight with Don Lemon.’ So, I appreciate all the years of ‘CNN Tonight with Don Lemon.’ But changes are coming. And I will fill you in.”

His strange message created quite a stir on social media. But his fans worried needlessly. Because the next morning, he posted the following message on Twitter: “Didn’t mean to set the internet on fire. What I said last night was true, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon is no more. I’ll be back on Monday with my newly named show Don Lemon Tonight.”

NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro called it a “bland rebrand.” He wrote: “So, CNN and Lemon tried to pull off a ridiculous media stunt to get people to tune into his show again. … What a joke. This is CNN.”

It was hardly worth the trouble. According to Fox News:

Lemon’s viewership has seen a steep decline since the beginning of the year, when his show averaged 3.48 million viewers during the week of the Capitol Hill riot that took place back on Jan. 6, marking a whopping 77% decline.

“Don Lemon Tonight” averaged a measly 816,000 viewers in his 10 pm ET timeslot from May 17-21, which is an 11% decrease from Lemon’s final week of “CNN Tonight,” which averaged 898,000 viewers from May 10-14, according to Nielsen data.

Lemon can commiserate with his colleague Brian Stelter. Fox reports:

CNN’s left-wing media pundit Brian Stelter managed to set a yearly low yet again as viewers continue to ignore “Reliable Sources.” Stelter has delivered eight-straight telecasts that failed to draw one million viewers and the May 23 edition hit rock bottom when it averaged only 763,000 viewers for a 2021 low.

Stelter has found it difficult to attract viewers during the Biden era. The liberal pundit claims to “examine the story behind the story” but perhaps he should probe what happened to his audience as he hemorrhages viewers at an alarming rate. Fox News’ “MediaBuzz,” which is Stelter’s direct timeslot competition, beat the CNN media show by a whopping 52 percent.

Over the same period, Fox News’ viewership has fallen by 12 percent and MSNBC’s by 49 percent.

To be fair, there was a lot going on in early January. We had the Georgia special election and the Capitol riot. People were following the news more closely. We also had cold and inclement weather across major parts of the country which kept people indoors. These factors may explain the 12 percent drop in Fox viewership, but the 67 and 49 percent nosedives sustained by CNN and MSNBC, respectively, are a different story.

The absence of President Trump accounts for a good portion of those drops. Fox News’ media analyst Joe Concha put it best. “To CNN, he was their Tony Soprano, and when you take Tony off The Sopranos, there isn’t much reason to watch the network.”

But putting that aside, maybe Americans are simply tired of being lied to every day. I sometimes tune into CNN or MSNBC to hear what the other side has to say and I come away angry. Their anchors and contributors have long ago abandoned the practice of real journalism. It’s like being stuck inside a giant liberal echo chamber.

CNN and MSNBC both spent well over two years hawking the Russian collusion story only to see their whole narrative fall apart. They ran through the same exercise with Stormy Daniels, Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president and a host of other stories only to see them all end with a great thud.

Over the last few weeks, viewers are seeing these networks completely reverse themselves on the Wuhan lab leak theory. For over a year, they’ve been calling anyone open to the idea that the virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology a conspiracy theorist.

At a certain point, even former network “stars” lose their credibility.

Two Black Women Violently Attacked, Hurled Racial Insults at Korean Store Owner; Media Ignores it [Video]

Last week, a clearly disturbed 21-year-old white male killed eight women at three Atlanta-area massage parlors. Because six of those women were of Asian ethnicity, the media collectively and immediately began reporting this mass murder as the latest “hate crime” to be committed by a white supremacist against Asian Americans.

From President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to every MSNBC and CNN anchor, there was outrage. It was only when FBI Director Christopher Wray announced that the shootings did not appear to be racially motivated that the sermonizing from the left subsided.

An actual racially motivated attack against an Asian occurred in North Harris County, Texas last week. But you didn’t hear about it. With the exception of KPRC 2, a local media outlet, this attack was ignored by the media. Why? Because the perpetrators were black. It didn’t fit their narrative that all whites are racist.

Five black women entered a beauty supply store owned by Jung Kim, a 59-year-old Korean woman. After they knocked over several wig displays on purpose, Kim asked them to leave the store. The women left and then returned. They knocked over the displays again and two of them, Daquiesha Williams and Keaundra Young, began to violently “pummel” Kim as they “hurled racial insults” at her.

Kim was left with a severely broken nose which will require surgery to fix.

The attack, caught on the store’s surveillance camera, can be viewed in the video below.

Her son, who works in the store with her, tried to fight the women off his mother and received minor injuries.

KPRC 2 reporter Andy Cerota said the situation escalated from there. Kim’s husband arrived and the women tried to run over him with their car. This is also caught on camera.

None of us are surprised by this story or by the media’s failure to report it. Although the mainstream media has lost a great deal of credibility over the last few years, miraculously they still remain the primary source of news for many Americans.

Unfortunately, there are no immediate solutions. The large networks and newspapers are so powerful and so closely tied to Big Tech and the Democratic Party, it’s unlikely that we will see significant change anytime soon. (Please see my earlier post: The Introduction of Race as a Central Issue in American Politics Can Be Traced to an Aug 2019 Staff Meeting at The NY Times.)

The right wing media is small compared to the established media. The key will be to develop a large, parallel, conservative media. Former President Donald Trump’s plan to create a large social media company is just the ticket. The growth of companies like Newsmax (who I will soon be writing for!) OANN and others, will help bring about change as well.

In the meantime, we need to keep on putting the truth out there.

Former CIA Director John Brennan: ‘I’m increasingly embarrassed to be a white male these days’

During a segment on MSNBC’s “Deadline White House” on Monday, the panel, which included host Nicolle Wallace, former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO)  and former CIA Director John Brennan, discussed how “some” Republicans have blamed Antifa and other left-wing groups for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Frankly, the Republicans I’ve listened to are pretty clear that it was carried out by Trump supporters. And they’ve also been quick to condemn the violence. But trotting out straw men and knocking them down has always been a preferred modus operandi of the left.

McCaskill told the group this was “because they want to be the victims, not the perpetrators. I have never seen so many whiny white men calling themselves victims as I saw over the weekend at CPAC. I mean, these are all people who think they have a huge grievance from a position of significant privilege.”

She continued, “It has really become the norm for the new Republican Party that lying is just peachy keen and I can’t believe the majority of America is gonna accept that, especially if we remain vigilant about pointing out what the facts are.”

“It renders at best hypocritical, at worst cynical and false, any notion that the Republicans care about the lives and the safety of law enforcement,” said host Nicolle Wallace.

Then John Brennan chimed in. He said, “Well, I must say to Claire’s point, I’m increasingly embarrassed to be a white male these days in light of what I see of my other white males saying. But it just shows that, with very few exceptions like Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, there are so few Republicans in Congress who value truth, honesty and integrity.”

“And so, they’ll continue to gaslight the country the way Donald Trump did. And the fact this has such security and safety implications for the American public and for the members of Congress, again, as Claire said, it is a disgusting display of craven politics that really should have no place in the United States in 2021.”

With all due respect Director, who’s gaslighting whom?

After listening to this exchange, I feel like I’m in Wonderland.

John Brennan is lecturing us about truth, honesty and integrity. This man has lied twice to Congress.

Brennan’s office was ground zero in the Russian Collusion scandal. I’ll refer you to several articles I’ve written on this subject:

John Brennan’s CIA ‘Operated Like A Branch Office Of The Hillary Campaign’

‘This IS the Scandal’: Dan Bongino Explains How John Brennan’s Office Became Ground Zero in the Russian Collusion Scandal

He’s always believed he was above the law.

During a May 23, 2017 House Intelligence Committee hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 election, then-Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), asked Brennan, “When you learned of Russian efforts, did you have evidence of a connection between the Trump campaign and Russian state actors?”

Brennan famously replied, “As I said, Mr. Gowdy, I don’t do evidence.”

This man is a practiced liar. He sounds entirely credible. But his record speaks for itself.

Finally, and this applies to all three of these creatures of the left, I refer you to the golden rule of the left. “Accuse the other side of what you are doing.” Although it was a favored tactic of 20th-century community organizer Saul Alinsky, according to Heartland.org’s Seton Motley, “this quote has bopped around for quite some time. It is at times attributed to Communists Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx, National Socialist Joseph Goebbels.”

Whatever its origin, Democrats continue to rely on it to this day. It works like a charm.
