Democrats’ Obsession With Halting Arizona Senate GOP’s Forensic Audit Begs the Question, ‘Why?’

Democrats have tried to move heaven and earth to stop the Arizona Senate Republicans’ forensic audit of ballots cast in Maricopa County, where over 60 percent of the state’s voters reside. President Joe Biden won the state by just over 10,000 votes in November. The Senate GOP has tried to conduct this intensive audit since that time and each attempt was blocked by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

Finally, after much legal wrangling, the Senate was allowed to go forward. The Democrats then flew in the big guns, including Washington attorney Marc Elias, who was responsible for commissioning the Steele dossier on behalf of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

With every resource at their disposal, Elias and his minions have worked for at least a month to crush this effort. Still, the GOP has prevailed.

When the audit began last Thursday, Democrats immediately raised a new legal challenge. They asked for a judge to stop the audit.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury, a Republican, agreed to order a weekend halt if the Democrats would agree to post a $1 million bond to cover any additional costs incurred by the GOP in stopping the audit. When the Democrats refused, the audit continued.

A court hearing was scheduled for Monday morning at 11 am.

Over the weekend, it was learned that one of Judge Coury’s former externs, a young attorney named Chris Viskovic, worked for one of the firms that was conducting the audit. That led to Judge Coury’s decision to recuse himself from this case on Sunday evening.

Additionally, on Sunday, Dr. Kelli Ward, the Chair of the State Republican Party in Arizona, provided an update on the audit in the video below.

Ward reported that “in a performance worthy of P.T. Barnum, the Democrats marched into court and told the judge that they were concerned about election integrity and the security of the ballot.”

The Democrats alleged that “hate groups” were being recruited for the audit, she said.

Ward also announced the GOP had filed a petition against the Democrats and that a ruling from the State Supreme Court was expected this week.

The GOP maintains that “the courts do not have the authority to infringe upon the Senate’s ability to manage the audit as it sees fit and that any civil action by the Democrats to stop the audit through continued court action crosses the line of separation of powers afforded by the United States Constitution.”

Ward added, “Let’s not be fooled in thinking that the Democrats will give up.”

Ward appeared on Newsmax’ Rob Schmitt Tonight on Saturday night to discuss the state of the audit. In the clip below, she tells Schmitt: “Well, Democrats also called election integrity, voter suppression. So we all know we cannot trust what the Democrats say. They are hypocrits and they are liars. We want to get to the bottom of what happened in 2020. We know that there were abnormalities. We know that there were mistakes, and we’re looking to make sure that there was not outright fraud.”

President Trump weighed in on Arizona’s audit. In a statement released by his Save America political action committee on Friday, he said, “So many people would like to thank the brave and patriotic Republican State Senators from Arizona for the incredible job they are doing in exposing the large scale Voter Fraud which took place in the 2020 Presidential Election.”

“Why are the Democrats so desperate to stop this Election Fraud from being revealed?,” he asked. “That answer is obvious! The Governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, has been shockingly of zero help to the State Senate. He wants to ‘pretend’ the election was free and fair.”

“Honest elections are America’s Heart and Soul. We must never allow this to happen to our Great Country again. Thank you State Senators and others in Arizona for commencing this full forensic audit. I predict the results will be startling!”
