By now, the 5,200 National Guard troops deployed at the U.S. Capitol are well aware they’re being used as props by leaders of the Democratic Party.
Approximately 20% of the troops are from Michigan. Over a dozen of them wound up in the hospital after consuming undercooked meats and other low-quality food they had been served.
A staff sergeant with the group spoke to 7 Action News on the condition of anonymity. “Yesterday, for instance, there were 74 different meals found with raw beef in them.” He noted that several “soldiers had found metal shavings in their food.”
7 Action News reported that “the problem is not isolated.”
The sergeant added that they frequently weren’t given enough to eat. “You were getting maybe a Danish and some sort of juice. And then we had certain days where it was clearly a dinner role and Sunny D.”
Last month, a soldier told The Detroit News that, “Multiple soldiers have been getting sick and vomiting after eating. Morale is very bad; many have served overseas and cannot believe the quality of food they are being fed here.”
In the video below, a reporter from WOOD 8 tells viewers that at least one soldier found a worm in his food.
The Michigan National Guard released a statement Monday calling the reports “very concerning” and “unacceptable,” and said it was dealing with the contractor involved.
There are currently 1,000 troops from Michigan in Washington. Their deployment is scheduled to end on March 12.
